Khayla J. Evans was the embodiment of hope and perseverance who inspired joy and admiration in the many lives she touched. It was often said, "you either love Khayla or you haven't met her yet".
Khayla was challenged with intellectual and developmental disabilities early on in life, but never gave up hope to keep trying and achieving. Despite what seemed like daunting odds, she graduated high school and enrolled in college to pursue an education in the field of Culinary Arts. As a student, she thrived as an independent young woman, putting forth a focused effort to succeed both academically and socially. She was involved in several college activities as well as student groups on campus, showing a great sense of school pride. Not surprisingly, she researched numerous other opportunities to gain knowledge to strengthen her independence.
Khayla transitioned on December 16, 2022, leaving a great void in the hearts of many. We want to turn that pain into purpose by insipiring other students with intellectual disabilities to seek opportunities to further their education beyond high school. The goal is to establish an endowment in Khayla's honor to continue her legacy of hope and joy.
