I have been fortunate to work with passionate and talented IT professionals in Ukraine for the last 12 years and to visit Kharkiv and Kyiv on a number of occasions in that time. Getting to know my teammates and their families has created enduring friendships. It’s a daily heartbreak to see what the Russian invasion has done to such a beautiful country and its talented, creative and hardworking people.
The situation in Ukraine continues to be incredibly fast moving and it’s not always the case that the UA government or international aid is able to get needed supplies to every place where aid is desperately needed. In many cases, resourceful individuals and informal community and family networks are able to find, acquire and transport desperately needed supplies.
My team and the IT firm that hosts them have been actively fundraising inside Ukraine since the invasion in February. They have been supporting their peers, their extended families, and their communities within these informal networks. As the war has dragged on, these support systems have become more sophisticated, and they have established direct relationships with local organizations in need in Kharkiv and Kyiv. In the last couple of months, they have become a pipeline of direct aid to a local hospital in Kharkiv.
I am hosting this GoFundMe to help raise some US funds that can be transferred to the team there to purchase additional supplies for the hospital, including such items from the hospital’s “wish list” below. Depending on the funds raised, additional supplies may be purchased as per hospital needs. The pictures attached to this page show some of the previous deliveries.
Central District Hospital in Kharkiv region:
1. Nerve stimulator for peripheral nerve blocks - HNS 12 (BBraun) - 41900 uah (around $1140)

3. Unipolar endoprosthesis (different joint types/ mostly hip joint) for refugees and elderly patients. From $500+
4. Medical plates and screws to fix the position of broken bones (various sizes and specifications). ~$50
5. Heaters (blowing type) - ~ $120
6. Electrical blankets - ~ $50 each
The team has been fully documenting all funds received as well as all expenditures, toward which 100% of funds are used. No one in this process is being paid and there is no administration or other “overhead” being diverted. This is a chance to make a pure donation directly to a community near the front lines of war and where refugees and those who have not been able to flee to safer locations suffer daily.
