Khadra Baskin: Ovarian Cancer Fund
Donation protected
As salamu alaikum and Ramadhan Mubarak,
I pray everyone reading information on Khadra's GoFundMe page is doing well mentally, spiritually and physically. For those of you who are fasting during this blessed month of Ramadhan, I pray the Lord, Almighty is blessing you with peace and a stronger commitment to Him. Ameen
As many of you may already know, Khadra was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2015. After receiving chemotherapy and radiation, her cancer went into remission. However, a short while later, Khadra's cancer returned and metastasized.
Since chemotherapy did not work when Khadra was initially diagnosed with cancer, she and her loved ones chose to utilize alternative treatments. So far, al ham dulillah, Khadra is doing well. She is fully aware of how much Allah is blessing her during this health trial. This is the reason she makes worshipping Allah her main priority. At the same time, Khadra is doing everything she possibly can to heal her body with the help of Allah. Unfortunately, alternative treatments are not covered by insurance.
Khadra's alternative treatments include the following:
-Intravenous Vitamin C Therapy
-Drinking frankincense and myrrh essential oil mixed with water and turmeric
-Raw, organic diet and protein
-Acupuncture
-Vitamins
Khadra's monthly bill for the above-referenced protocol is $1,000.00 excluding the Intravenous Vitamin C Therapy. Normally, Khadra tries to purchase these treatments for $2,500.00 ($250.00 X 10). When she purchases 10 at one time, she receives a discount.
Khadra is retired and lives on a fixed income. She served as an Administrative Coordinator for the Office of Equity and Diversity at the University of Tennessee for more than 20 years. In addition, Khadra recently returned to work (on a part-time basis) in an effort to bring in more income to pay for her alternative treatment. In other words, Khadra is doing everything she possibly can to help herself. But, with your help, Khadra's load can be lightened. While it is true that Khadra is resilient and has remained positive during this time, your one time or on-going donation will help relieve Khadra of some stress-related issues she deals with while going through this health trial.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: It (Ramadhan) is the month, whose beginning is mercy, its middle, forgiveness and its end, emancipation from the fire (of hell). In addition, during Ramadhan, Muslims are encouraged to be extremely generous and charitable in order to receive as many blessings as possible from Allah. Therefore, please donate AND please share Khadra's GoFundMe page. And, please pray to Allah for Khadra's complete healing.

While it is a blessing to be able to help anyone in need, it is equally important to know that Khadra has been heavily involved in the Knoxville area community and Muslim community for almost 30 years. She has graciously volunteered in multiple organizations tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Time and time again, Khadra, despite her recent circumstances, has pushed herself and others to volunteer in food and homeless shelters, at local mosques, and community events year round.
Khadra is also a deeply spiritual and kind soul, who has dedicated herself to her religion. She reads Islam's holy book constantly, the Quran, even teaching others how to read the book over Skype and in person, helping many people nationwide. She involves herself with organizing Islamic classes for children, and potlucks for the local mosque during the Holy Month of Ramadan as well as spearheading interfaith outreach and connecting with Muslim converts. Khadra is also one of the driving forces responsible for founding and coordinating our local Maryville community mosque.
So, helping Khadra during her time of need is simply giving back to someone who has already (and continues) given so much to others.
