Hi everyone!

My name is Khadija Moustafa and I'm a DJ and visual artist based in Glasgow. I am currently entering my third year at the Glasgow School of Art studying Fine Art Photography. I was shortlisted to take part in their exchange programme. I was then later accepted by The California Institute of the Arts to spend a semester studying Photography and Media. I am extremely grateful and excited to embark on this journey at such a prestigious school.

As a young Glaswegian artist and coming from a single parent, working class background, this is a massive opportunity. From the get-go, large costs for this trip were anticipated, but the extent of the costs have exceeded my already daunted expectations and I’ve found myself with no-where else to turn. I do not want my background to dictate my opportunities. To date, I have funded this very long process on my own by working long hours and saving up. I can’t legally work whilst I am here, in America, as I am on the F1 student visa. The decision to reach out for financial help using this platform is not one I take lightly but it is with much consideration that I ask those who are able to donate.

Aside from all of these obvious costs, I have not included my living costs.
