Jason's Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Hello family, friends and caring and supportive people.
For the past 17 years, Jason Barron has courageously fought brain cancer (Oligodendroglioma).
Married, a father of three daughters and a grandfather of two granddaughters, Jason needs to survive.
Since being first diagnosed in 2006, Jason has endured 2 surgical rejections, several rounds of radiation and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. For 12 years he was in remission, but unfortunately, the tumors started to regrow two years ago.
Once again, he initiated another round of chemotherapy. However, this time the tumors didn't respond to the drugs and the tumors have progressed about one millimeter a month. New tumors have also developed. Unless treatments can stop the growth of the tumors, Jason will soon lose motor and speech functions. Surgical resection is not an option due to the location of the tumors in his brain. Radiation and even cyberknife techniques are not an option.
Jason's Doctors distributed his prognosis and medical information to hospitals throughout Canada. Much to everyone's disappointment, Jason was informed by his oncologist in Windsor, that there are no treatments available to treat his cancer in Canada.
Searching desperately to find a treatment for Jason became an onerous task. Throughout our research, we discovered a possible treatment at the Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York.
Just this week, Jason and his family, flew to New York to consult with the neuro oncologist to discuss the possibility of receiving their treatment. With great relief, he was informed that their treatment plan was suitable for him.
Jason will be required to attend their hospital, every three weeks, to receive an Immunotherapy IV drip. Fortunately, he is able to orally ingest two chemotherapy pills during the following days back home.
This protocol would continue for two years, requiring a total of thirty-six visits to the hospital in New York.
A financial challenge indeed, but how do you put a price on your last resort for survival?
Treatments will soon be initiated, once all of the medical logistics have been finalized.
Financial resources for treatment, travel, car rental and lodging are the main concern.
It is Jason's hope that he and his wife, can fly from Detroit to New York, receive his Immunotherapy IV, stay a night in a hotel, and fly back to Detroit the next day.
Humbly, we pray that you will be able to support Jason and his loved ones during his battle with cancer.
Any amount you are willing to contribute is very much appreciated. If you are not able to financially contribute, please contribute by sharing on your social media platforms and with family, friends and colleagues.
