No One Fights Alone

Hi, my name is Jessica. I’m the daughter of Ron and Jen Razon. I would like to share with you all about my Dad. He has always been a  great and loving husband to my Mom and an amazing and loving father to me. He’s a hard worker and a great provider for our family. He also had 2 jobs. My Dad is the type of person who is very active, always thinks positive and never complains. Sometimes the unexpected happens in life. Unfortunately in my Dad’s case, 7 months ago, he started to feel sick. We thought it was just a regular fever, but it was more than that. He had pneumonia, valley fever and was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Due to the multiple myeloma, he has 7 compressed fractures on his spine. He suffered excruciating pain on his back and he wasn’t able to move and walk on his own. He was hospitalized 3 times due to infections and complications. He has already endured multiple sessions of chemotherapy and radiation treatment and has battled pneumonia twice due to a compromised immune system from the chemo. Because of the spinal compression fractures, he wore a “turtle shell” back brace for 4 months to prevent unnecessary spinal movement and rotation but has recently undergone a kyphoplasty, a spinal stabilization procedure that will hopefully allow him to walk and move again without as much pain. My Dad’s drastic weight loss of 65 pounds is so distressing to my Mom, my Grandma & myself and yet his positive thinking and outlook enlightens us when he reminds us that it will simply be easier for him to gain his muscle back when he gets back into the gym. My Mom has been taking care of my Dad 24/7 since it all started. Because of my Dad’s illness, both of my parents are not able to work. Right now, I’m only able to work part-time to help out as much as I can. With all the medical and other bills, our financial resources are depleting.
