We are excited to be running the Hartford Half Marathon on October 11, 2025! As many of you know, my mom has been fighting metastatic breast cancer for many years now. She was diagnosed in December of 2016 and continues to show strength, hope, and faith to fight on. She has been a constant role model and inspiration to both of us as well as anyone who has gotten to know her. For those who may not be aware, metastatic breast cancer is breast cancer that has spread from the breast to other areas of the body (organs, lymph nodes etc.). While there is no cure for this terminal illness, many people are continuing to live longer and enjoy life.
Looking back on the past few years since we ran our first race, we see how life can change very quickly. This past year, our mom overcame more obstacles than we could have imagined. From surgery, to new chemo, and much more, she has stayed optimistic and determined to live life to the fullest as she powers through her treatment.
So many people have been negatively impacted by cancer in some way or another. It is something that my family and many other families have to deal with on a daily basis and for the rest of our lives. It is the hardest thing in the world to watch someone you love go through this awful disease. No one deserves it.
Team Sue has decided that we will be running in honor of our Mom, Sue Galeota in this years Hartford Half Marathon. Any support that we receive from friends, family, and others will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Organization for Breast Cancer Research. We will be running for our mom and for everyone else who has to deal with this awful disease because running 13.1 miles is a lot easier than battling breast cancer.
