My wife is dying
Rebekah Akrey is a mother of four. Grandmother of 5. Stepmother of two. And the love of my life.
She is a licensed paralegal. Her job is helping people. She is good at what she does and she does good. She is a hero to many. And an inspiration to me. Her husband.
When I met Rebekah, she had had four surgeries on a hip replacement. And since she’s had three more surgeries on her hips, including the other hip being replaced as well. Then we found out she had an incurable infection around the hip replacement… Another surgery. As I was helping her recover from all these Invasive surgeries, the pandemic hit.
So what does Rebekah do… Signed up for school. Goes into the paralegal profession. Graduates with honor.
During her schooling, we found out that she had lung cancer. She had the surgery removed half of one of her lungs. Chemotherapy. Always tired always feeling horrible. But she continued with her school and as I said, graduated with honors. We found a miracle drug that was only available in the states, but our doctor got us on this drug meant for her specific cancer. The chemo almost killed her. But this drug seems to have some effect at keeping her cancer at bay. By now it has spread into her brain and lymph nodes.
She went through countless procedures… MRIs… CAT scans… blood letting.
Everything was looking hopeful. The miracle drugs seems to be working. But she still is in stage four.
Now she has tubes in her side that the nurses have to come and drain fluid from around her lung and heart three times a week. She is in constant pain. She has no energy. She’s had to give up her practice. And now we’re sort of stuck. I can only work part time as I am her full-time caregiver. And without her working, we are in a tight spot.
This is the end of times… She has months left… if that. And her spirit is sinking quickly, as is mine.
She states to me all the time, that she just wants to help more people. She loved her job. She loved fighting for other peoples rights. She loved helping the little guy.
Unfortunately, now it’s the time that she and I have to ask for help. We have no money coming in. On top of our regular bills we also have heavy medical expenses.
Please help this woman who has spent her life helping others.
Help me give my wife a beautiful send off.
Thank you
