Hello,
My name is Edwin Salgado and I’m an 8th grader at BAMS in San Clemente. I’m raising money this year to go on the 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C. In my history class we’ve been learning all about how the U.S. government started and a little bit about how it works. I really would love to be able to go to D.C. to see how it compares to what we’ve been learning about. It’s hard to imagine seeing the actual places where some of the most important documents were signed. I’ll get to see some of the places where some of the most important people sat and debated about our country’s laws. A few weeks ago, we all got a character which were the most important delegates from the states. Then, we learned all about that person and why they were so important. Finally, we dressed up and argued with others in a very exciting debate. It was awesome to experience what the actual people did and how it felt being so important in the making of our country!
This trip will be full of activities including a trip to the Capitol building, the Spy Museum, the U.S. Mint, Gettysburg and so much more. I’ve heard each day starts around 7:30 am and we are running around until 9 or 10 at night. There will be so much to see and do. It sounds really fun. I never thought I’d be able to think about going until Mrs. Gibson convinced me to try to go.
This year, the cost is around $2,200. That is a lot for my family right now, but my mom, dad and my older brother have all promised to help. I’ll be working with my dad on the weekends to save money as well. I would really appreciate if you could donate money for me to go to D.C. It’s fine if you don’t, but I would be really thankful if you do. It doesn’t matter the amount you donate, but anything is appreciated!
There are a couple ways to donate: Cash, check (made out to Christine Gibson), or log on to my GoFundMe site
Cash and checks can be mailed to:
