A Service Dog for Mikey
Donation protected
Michael Amendola, known to his family and friends as Mikey, is the most adorable four year old boy you will ever meet. He wakes up every day with a smile on his face and a special spark in his eyes. He is funny and silly and loving. And, he loves dogs!
Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of two, Mikey’s hyperactivity and attention deficit make his disregard for safety and boundaries difficult to manage. Mikey’s family realizes that having an ECAD Service Dog tethered to his side will be a blessing. His parents would be able to let Mikey free of his restraints and allow him to partake in the same activities as his siblings. In addition, his dog will offer the entire family the peace of mind knowing that someone else also has eyes on him; someone who can safely stop him in his tracks and keep him out of harm’s way.
Thank you, on behalf of Mikey and the other autistic children who benefit from the loving relationship and security that a service dog can add to their lives. We are excited and eager to begin this process for Mikey.
“When we visited ECAD’s Canine Education and Wellness Center and met several of the Service Dogs-in-Training, I knew immediately that a service dog would improve Mikey’s quality of life.” Christine Amendola, Mikey’s mom
