Our sweet Benny had an unfortunate incident at the dog park a couple weeks ago when a dog bigger than him (hard to imagine!) ran into him full force and it resulted in Benny suffering a full CCL tear. Benny was limping for the last couple weeks but with a little rest and some meds, he is feeling much better than he was immediately after the incident, however this is only a temporary fix.

The CCL is the doggie version of the ACL and like humans, the best prognosis for this injury is surgery. The ligament will not heal on it's own. The surgery recommended for a dog Benny's size is a TPLO which is quite invasive and requires about 4 weeks of strict rest afterwards. However because Benny is so young he should recover to about 90-99%! Which is amazing and exactly what we want for him.

Benny loves to go on adventures, swims, hikes and BALL IS LIFE. Until he has this surgery all of his favorite activities are unfortunately on hold.

Because this surgery is considered the gold standard to treat this kind of injury, it is also incredibly expensive. We are asking our community and all who know Benny to please consider donating toward his care. If you have ever met Benny you know that this boy is a ray of sunshine, a literal earth angel and the best goofball! I've been working only part time due to some of my own health issues and AJ is officially a grad student so our budget is so incredibly tight at this time.

I love him like my own child and we need him on the mend so he can continue to spread joy, support his family's mental and physical health (Benny is recently officially a trained service dog!) and live a healthy, happy life!
