All funds will be used for medical bill associated with her GBS Syndrome
Susan had some tingling & numbness in her feet and was told to do some stretches. She started to feel weaker and by day 3 she called me to take her to the Dr. They sent her home even though she wasn't really able to stand or walk, she then advocated for herself and went to the ER her right hand had becoming paralyzed. While in the ER she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre (GBS) syndrome a condition in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves, It causes weakness, numbness and partial paralysis. On Sunday she couldn't move her arms, hands, legs or feet.
She was in the ICU for 19 days and they want her out of the hospital and into a rehab center. They said she'll spend 20-30 days there then she'll have to be moved to a long term rehab hospital and it is not covered under her insurance and must be paid out of pocket. We don't know what this will cost but, Susan has a long road ahead of her and will need physical & occupational therapy, as well as learning how to speak with a trachea tube, and doesn't have the resources to pay for this as it may cost $80,000-$100,000.
