Blake’s Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
Blake Cecil Norman was born at 9 pm on May 19, 2023 to Heather Miller and Curtis Norman. We knew Blake’s delivery and life thereafter would be difficult based off of news Heather received when she was pregnant. Blake had fluid on his brain, his spinal cord was seemingly detached in some areas, he had a substantial sized hole in his heart, and several other spinal birth defects. When he was born, a vacuum was used to help guide him out, but the suction was so forceful that it caused lacerations on his scalp. Soon after, he set up an infection in those lacerations, which then resulted in him having several reconstructive surgeries on his head. Unfortunately, these surgeries were nowhere near the end of the surgeries Blake would endure. His health would steadily improve but then would soon plummet back down. He was a fighter. A hero. A warrior. In early August, Blake took a turn for the worse. He went into cardiac arrest. Three times. Each time they performed open heart surgeries, administered hundreds of medications, and kept him stable through the use of dialysis, ECMO, and ventilator machines. Blake turned 3 months old during this time period. While all this was going on, Blake was monitored for also having severe seizures. The doctors were treating him with the most intense, rigorous medicines for all of his complications. On August 28, we received the news that Blake’s seizures had basically left him brain dead. His heart was described as “mush” so they could no longer operate on it. Heather and Curtis had to make the most difficult decision of their lives, which resulted in Blake passing away at 8:50 pm on August 30, 2023. He went peacefully in his mommy and daddy’s arms, surrounded by his loving Mamaw Linda, Aunt Haley, and Uncle Leonard.
Although Blake went through extremely traumatic moments, he was still the happiest, most curious baby. He loved listening to his mommy sing and read to him. He loved elephants, and especially his raccoon toy. He loved staring into his mommy’s eyes and watching lights. He loved falling asleep in daddy’s arms. He was also very stern and was not afraid to show the nurses who was boss. All Blake knew was love. He was constantly surrounded by loving family and medical staff. Everyone who knew Blake, loved him.
We are seeking financial assistance in laying our sweet baby boy to rest. He struggled and fought his entire life and we believe he deserves a proper burial. Funeral dates are to be announced. Please only donate if possible.
