Last Updated 10/1/2021 Information Below

On March 7th, 2021 at 12 noon Michael was assaulted by his ex-partner of four years with a pocket knife. Michael suffered fourteen cuts, ten of which were stab wounds. Once in the right knee, three in the palm of his left hand, three in the chest, once in the neck, and two in the right ear. The wounds to his hand and ear have damaged some nerves. He couldn't feel sensation in his left hand and couldn't feel or move the right side of his face.

On March 8th, 2021 at 1:00 PM Michael went into surgery to repair the damaged nerves, and the surgery was a huge success. Michael is currently now in recovery and waiting to see the full results over the next six months. There is no guarantee that he will regain his full facial control, but he has a wonderful medical team that will support him come October whatever his results are to help him get to a point he can live comfortably with.

Michael is an amazing son, brother, and friend to many. He's an EMT with a love for helping people and making them smile. He's been attending phlebotomy school in hopes to further his education and career. He still has plans to continue his schooling as soon as he can once he's healed.

He has a long list of family and friends supporting him emotionally and he is trying to stay positive for the future. He has upcoming checkups post surgery, and has plans to seek counseling to cope with the experience.

Any well wishes are appreciated.

Donations are not required, but greatly appreciated for medical bills and counseling services.

*UPDATE 3/18/2021
Michael has seen his nerve specialist three times now. His head wrap was removed last week, and today his post-op splint (pictured on his hand above) was removed as well. His stitches and staples were removed, and, while some of his wounds still look very shocking, some of them look like they are healing great. Luckily, none of them seem to be getting infected.

Michael still cannot move his right side of his face, and he still cannot feel his left middle finger or his right ear. At this point, the doctor has expressed time is the next step in the healing process. We are at a waiting point to see the long term results of his surgery, but as more information is gained, more information will be shared here.

The next scheduled appointment is in a few weeks, but if there are any breakthroughs in movement or sensation then more updates will be posted here before then. For now, Michael wanted to share a video update with everyone since his splint is off and his wounds are unwound.
