Hello, my name is Andrew, and I am reaching out to you from Canada on behalf of my beloved cousin, Keyla Quesada, who is 27 years old and battling stage 3 brain cancer in Costa Rica.

Keyla Quesada is more than just family; she is like a sister to me. She has always been a vibrant, loving, and selfless person, bringing joy and strength to everyone around her. Cancer treatment is difficult enough on its own, but the costs are overwhelming, especially in a situation where resources are limited. My cousin is fighting with all her might, but we cannot do this alone. Hello! My name is Keyla

I wanted to share a little about my current journey. Recently, I started experiencing intense headaches, nausea, and unusual visual auras. Initially, I wasn’t too concerned, but one day I struggled to complete a simple task—sending a money transfer on my phone. This was the moment I knew something more serious might be happening, so I sought medical help immediately.

At the clinic, the doctors conducted a brain scan and urged me to go to the hospital without delay. I was admitted right away and spent a month in a public hospital. My doctors determined that my case required specialized care, so I was transferred to Mexico Hospital in San José, where I underwent awake brain surgery. Thankfully, the procedure went well, although I still experience occasional memory lapses. I’m told this is a normal part of recovery and should improve with time.

After my biopsy, I received the difficult news that my tumor is malignant—an Astrocytoma Grade 3. To fight this cancer, I am preparing to begin radiotherapy. However, the best chance of improving my long-term outlook is with immunotherapy, which is only available through private clinics here in Costa Rica.

That’s why I’m reaching out for support. With your help, I hope to access this essential treatment and give myself the best chance to overcome this aggressive disease. In addition to medical expenses, my cousin needs to travel daily from Liberia to San José—a journey that takes between 4 to 6 hours each way. For approximately 42 days, she will be traveling or staying in San José to receive her treatments. This means covering significant costs for transportation, lodging, and food during each treatment trip. These additional expenses are essential to ensure she can access the treatment she needs, and they greatly increase the total amount of funds required.
