Hello Family and Friends,
My name is Stacy, and I’m writing this on behalf of my family as we face one of the most difficult battles of our lives. As I write this, I feel a wave of emotions—nausea, anger, and helplessness. My family is facing the toughest challenge we’ve ever encountered. My beautiful, kind, and loving sister Amanda has been diagnosed with Stage II triple-negative breast cancer.
For those who know Amanda, you can attest to the amazing person she is. For those who haven’t met her, I hope you have the chance to one day. Amanda is the second child of our parents, a wonderful daughter, and among our siblings, she is our gentle, beautiful, and spectacular sister. To her only child, Ashley, she has always been the most incredible single mom. And her favorite title is “Glamma” to her two perfect grandchildren, Layla and Bryson. She is also a beloved aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many. Amanda’s laugh is infectious, and when her smile reaches her eyes, her face lights up. She’s the most naturally beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, with a personality to match. Many who meet her call her an angel, and it’s no exaggeration. When our beloved grandparents were alive, Amanda was undoubtedly their favorite. Knowing what lies ahead for her is devastating for us all.
Stage II triple-negative breast cancer is aggressive and rare, accounting for only 12% of breast cancer cases. Amanda’s treatment will span the next six months, starting with weekly chemo treatments for the first three months, followed by treatments every three weeks alongside immunotherapy. She is facing the most difficult fight of her life. So far, the prognosis has only worsened, but we have a plan and we have hope.
The medical bills are already piling up, because nothing about cancer is easy. We are reaching out to our community for help during this challenging time. While Amanda’s job has been supportive and gracious as she begins this battle, her insurance cannot cover the start of her treatment. While she is applying daily for every available financial assistance to help cover these extensive costs, none of it will come in time to help cover all the preparation and scans necessary to begin her treatment next week. Every doctor we have spoken to has warned us of the highly aggressive nature of this form of cancer and how every day we wait is a greater risk to her recovery. We need to prepare for every possibility. This diagnosis is the most devastating news we could have imagined, and nothing has been easy. Your support during this time is greatly needed and deeply appreciated.
Whether or not you can contribute, we are grateful that you took the time to read this. Every contribution counts, and we are so thankful for your generosity. Please share this and say a prayer for my sister. Above all else, we believe in the power of positivity and prayers. I will continue to update you all as our journey with Amanda continues.
Thank you.
