Hello everyone, my name is Melissa Cromer. I am Donnie Cromer's baby sister. As many of you may know Donnie, you may not know his history with his community. I wanted to give a little background on him. Donnie became a Volunteer Firefighter for the Town of Blacksburg when he was 18 years old. He stayed with the fire department until becoming a life member. Alongside being a volunteer fireman, he also started a career as a Montgomery County Deputy working in the jail. After several years, he transferred over to become a road officer. Several years later he accepted a job at Christiansburg Police Department as a Police Officer. Donnie would then work his way up thru the ranks and finished out his career and retired as a School Resource Officer. Donnie has spent his adult life serving his community, giving to anyone that needed his help. He has given unconditionally to his community, friends, family, and complete strangers. Now, unfortunately, Donnie is the one in need. On June 1st, he was admitted to Radford Hospital with a sore on his foot that wasn't healing. The situation became even more complicated due to him being a diabetic, and he had become septic. After many tests and blood work, it was then determined that the only choice he had was for an amputation up to the knee. Donnie is facing a lot of medical expenses, and the fact he is no longer able to keep his mowing business has been a big blow to him. Any donations are so appreciated by not only Donnie but our entire family. May God bless you all. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks so much for your time.
Melissa
