Kevin's Struggle: Overcoming MRSA Infection

Donation protected
My name is Diana and I am Kevin's wife. My husband has needed a knee replacement for almost 2 years. Now, every doctor we had seen kept telling him he had to wait till he turned 50. Well, he turned 50 this year, and we were good to go plan for knee surgery, but it got delayed. Because, yeah, he had a cortisone shot in January and they needed to wait a certain amount of time, so surgery got delayed again. Finally, he had total knee replacement surgery on March 20th. Everything was going great for 2 weeks post-surgery. After the staples were removed, everything started going downhill. He ended up having an allergic reaction to the glue with the steri-strips that they put on his knee. Post-op 3 weeks, he ended up having a fever of 102.4 after a physical therapy session, and I took him to the ER. They ended up running some tests. Come to find out, my husband has MRSA. He was admitted and was in the hospital for a week, discharged that Friday with a PICC line. Sunday, he started vomiting for 2 days, so I took him back to the ER. They admitted him for dehydration and discharged him the next day saying he's fine. I kept insisting that he was not okay. Something was going on. Please culture his blood to make sure he wasn't infected somewhere else. Since the MRSA was localized to only the knee joint, they sent him home that Tuesday, which was the next day. Even on the drive home, he was not himself, very disoriented, and we just assumed it was from all the medication they had given him. Wednesday, he was still not okay, very delusional, having hallucinations. Thursday was the same. Home healthcare came on to do wound care and physical therapy. They took his blood pressure and it was extremely low. I came home from work and the blood pressure was still low. Friday, I checked it again; blood pressure was still low, it was 89/54, pulse rate 156. He had been shaking almost like he had Parkinson's in both of his arms. I spoke to another colleague at my job because I work in the medical field, and they said it sounds like he's having a sepsis response. So again, we went back to the ER on Friday. They ran blood cultures, they ran all these tests, and now he's being discharged again Sunday with no answers, still no results with the blood culture, unable to get an MRI because he's in that much pain, he can't sit still for long enough.

So the reason why I'm submitting for a GoFundMe account is not only am I the only one working right now to help with medical bills, to help with house bills, just help overall at this point. So I thank you for taking the time to read my story, and hopefully, you find it in your heart to help our family. It has been a very long journey in the past thirty days, with four hospital visits and still no answers.

Update... after continously fighting and being my husband's advocate they ran additional test. And the concluded that hubby had three mini strokes. So here we continously fighting for full recovery. Thank you to everyone for thoughts, prayers, and help. I could never thank or express enough gratitude.
