Kevin's Road to Healing and Hope
Donation protected
Hello everyone, My name is Devin. I am not normally good at asking and reaching out for help, but there has been such a big emergency that my family and I are at a stand still. I am here trying to raise money for my dad, Kevin, who has recently gone through some serious medical emergencies.
Here’s a brief backstory on Kevin. He is 44 years young and loves to participate in sports, including bowling and softball. He is a devoted husband to his wife Katie of 20 years and father to Devin and Aimsley. Kevin has worked as a city bus driver for over 17 years.
Kevin has had numerous back issues this past year and has been out of work since April 2024 when he had major back surgery and subsequent procedures to alleviate his back pain. Happily, during those months he was able to collect about 60% of his salary with Disability Insurance. During this time Kevin and his family were still covered by his health insurance provided through his place of employment. However, family finances were strained due to his reduced pay and the need to cover some of the health insurance and medical costs.
Things were looking up when Kevin returned to work on December 2nd. He was happy to be back at work full-time and starting to get his life back to normal. Then came an unexpected and tragic turn of events. Kevin suffered a severe traumatic brain injury due to a fall in the ice on Saturday, December 14th. The accident caused bleeding into several areas of the brain, a temporal skull fracture and a ruptured eardrum. Kevin is being cared for in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit. He currently has no memory of the accident, but recognizes people and has been able to get out of bed and walk short distances with assistance.
The donations you provide will help cover monthly health insurance costs, continued loss of salary and everyday living expenses. We hope and pray that Kevin will make a full recovery, but realistically expect a long road to recovery with months of healing, strengthening and rehabilitation. Again, thank you for your past support and whatever ongoing support and assistance you are willing and able to provide. We just want our Kevin back.
Thank you so much for any help you are able to provide. My family and I are eternally grateful and don't know where this journey will lead, but we are determined to help my dad get back to his old goofy self.
