In 2021, I found out I have CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia).
My oncologist has regularly monitored me since 2021. Until late 2024, the CLL progressed slowly, and no additional care was needed.
In December of 2024, my white blood cell count started increasing at an alarming rate to the point that treatment became necessary.
My treatment in Missouri was working. However, the Mayo Clinic noticed something of concern.
My employer has a program that will pay for my trips to the Mayo Clinic.
I visited the Mayo Clinic from April 15-19, and they discovered something of concern that might require additional treatments.
Possibly as soon as the next two to three weeks.
The concern is that the CLL is transitioning to what is called Richter's Syndrome or Richter's transition, a more aggressive form of cancer.
I have applied for a leave of absence for the next few months while I am receiving care at the Mayo Clinic and my local oncologist.
This should allow me to keep my insurance and my benefits for the Mayo Clinic.
However, I need assistance in covering living expenses while I am not working.
Thank you very much for your support.
Kevin
