Kevin's Journey to a Safe, New Home

Hi everyone,

My name is Kevin Ortiz, and I’m reaching out during a difficult but transformative time in my life.

I’m currently in the process of moving out after facing an illegal eviction and enduring a deeply harmful housing situation. Despite months of advocating for my rights and trying to create open, honest communication in the home, I was dismissed, gaslit, and made to feel like the problem—when in truth, I was standing up against injustice.

I tried to address the landlord’s abuse of power early on, but I wasn’t heard. Now, I’m being forced out of my home—without a legal eviction process—and doing everything I can to find stability while preserving my self-respect and mental well-being.

✨ I’m asking for help with:

First month’s rent + deposit for a safe, stable home

Moving costs and basic household essentials

Groceries, self-care, and time to rest and recover

Space to job-hunt and pursue fulfilling, values-aligned work

This has been incredibly disorienting, but I know that walking away from harm is an act of courage. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m determined to build a peaceful, grounded life from here.
