As we all know, the worst things happen to the best people. My dad, Kevin Butler, has developed prostate cancer. He has been the strongest backbone of our family for as long as I've been around, and he has continued to be strong since he started going through this illness last fall. Throughout that time, he has been dealing with other medical issues; other surgeries unrelated to this illness are yet to come. The best option to get rid of the cancer is a surgery that goes uncovered by insurance. It is expensive, but comes with a speedy recovery and way less negative impacts than chemotherapy or complete removal. We are struggling to cover the costs on our own, and we're asking for your help to lessen the burden of these medical bills. We want him to be up and back to his usual moving and grooving self as quickly as possible! The procedure he will undergo is a high-intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU) which targets and destroys cancerous tissue without need for removal. With this option, he will be home the day of the surgery and be back to work within 2 weeks (compared to 3-6 with removal of the prostate).
