Rev. Kevin Rice Recovery Fund

Rev. Kevin Rice has devoted his life to helping others as a minister, speaker, writer, and spiritual guide. He has helped a countless number of people, guided by A Course in Miracles and The Golden Rule:  to ‘love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love others as we want to be loved’. Now, he is the one requiring our help.

As many already know, Kevin underwent an emergency craniotomy for a very large subdural hematoma on August 1st. The bleeding in the brain did not stop so another craniotomy was performed two days later. After spending ten days in ICU and two days in a regular room, Kevin returned home.

The hematoma, and thus the surgeries, was on the left side of the brain near his language centers. This left him with Aphasia, a communication disorder affecting his speech, listening, and writing abilities. He has improved since he left the hospital unable to speak at all, but he still has a long way to go until he can return to his livelihood and his life’s work as a speaker and spiritual teacher. His only way of reaching out spiritually right now is by ‘copy and paste’ from ACIM and his previous sermons on Facebook. He has applied for disability, but there is a mandatory five-month waiting period if he is accepted.

In addition to his inability to work because of the Aphasia, Kevin does not currently have medical insurance. Since leaving the hospital, all doctor visits, medications, and additional tests he needed (like blood tests and CT scans) have been self-paid. More testing and visits to the surgeon are scheduled over the next month and a half and the visits with the neurologist will last for the next few years. Kevin has applied to Medicaid to help with future visits, but it takes at least two months to find out if he is accepted so it will not be available for the immediate medical expenses currently scheduled.

Your donation to Kevin can help by assisting with the cost of the currently scheduled tests and visits, as well as living expenses while he continues to recover. Every individual with Aphasia is different so there is no way of knowing when his speech will fully return and he can continue his work and speaking-life.

Please take a moment to search your heart in terms of the love and wisdom this great man has offered you. Those of us close to Kevin realize that, in his generous spirit, he'd much rather be giving than receiving. But we know what he has done for us, and see this as a perfect opportunity to give as we have received. Thank you very much for any support you can offer.
