Kevin Yee Needs Our Help

Donation protected
Kevin Yee, of Three Rivers suffered a serious, life changing cerebral intraparenchymal hemorrhage on August 22nd while visiting Italy with his wife, Miriam. At the time of his hemorrhage, Miriam awoke to an unconscious Kevin, who was immediately airlifted by helicopter to a Livorno, Italy hospital. Miraculously escaping death, his future mobility is an unknown.
Kevin is currently in an induced coma. Due to the depth of the hemorrhage in his brain, doctors are unable to operate. So we wait while the medical staff monitors the situation.

The Yees have Medicare in the United States, which is useless in Europe. They do not have travel insurance. A very rough estimate for his continued care in Italy, according to the doctors, is $80,000. If Kevin survives this initial phase, he will require months of successive treatment to relearn how to use his bodily functions.

Update: Kevin has just been moved out of ICU to the neurological department and is breathing independently with a tracheotomy tube.  Two days ago, after sedation was halted, he opened his eyes for the first time.  Medical assistance is slowly being removed to assess if he’s able to function independently. Kevin has been able to respond to questions by blinking his eyes, and moving his mouth, arm or foot. These small improvements take great effort for the brain. Though encouraging, Kevin’s journey will be slow over a long period of time, in another country.

Miriam, his devoted spouse, will remain in a monthly rental home in Italy to remain close to him. His daughter, Sharna, has returned from a visit last week, and will continue to travel across the country, to support both her mom and dad until he is safely able to come home.

Kevin has been an integral part of our Three Rivers community for over 30 years, immersing himself in playing music on multiple instruments with local bands, as well as painting the Sierra Nevada foothills. His creativity, lightheartedness and passion for life has always been infectious.
Please help this beloved family have peace of mind and hope for the future by contributing to this fund. Prayers are incredibly helpful as is sharing this link.
