During these covid times...I have my 2020 story.
Because of a spine condition, my loving and courageous husband, Kevin Hall, has slowly lost movement in most of his body. He's had 3 back surgeries in the last two years. For the last 5 years he's been a renal patient. The numerous cultures for a UTI since January didn't identify the actual infection until Sept 6th. He was hospitalized on July 20, and he hasn't been home since. A bedsore appeared on him in the hospital on July 27. The site got worse and worse. By Aug 30, I was told he had a 4th stage ulcer. From the nursing home he must be transported to dialysis on a gurney. This current nursing home does not pay for transportation. I called a suggested transport yesterday, asked about billing last night by text. This morning I was told a roundtrip is $240! Dialysis is 3 times a week. I can pay for today.
This is monumental, huge and vital. I will care for him when they ever release him. Years, they say before it's all healed. We'll get skilled nursing help when he gets home. And, we are open to home hemodialysis to avoid these transportation issues.
Today I am looking into Medicare eligibility, calling charities, friends, and family. We need help!
