Kevin is a loving and dedicated father of three and just about the best friend you could ask for. He does not hesitate to help when he sees that someone is struggling. In the same breath, hes the last guy to ask for help (especially when he really needs it.) For over a year now Kevin has been dealing with the a shattered foot in result of falling off a roof about a year and a half ago. He is a carpenter that was builing a home and ever since that day he has been unable to continue working let alone walking normally if at all. Previous to this fall we had a family cruise planned for December. He had been complaining about heart burn symptoms prior to us even boarding the ship. We assumed it was just that. Heart burn. Skip ahead we are a few days into the cruise and he wasn't feeling the greatest but we continued to think it was heart burn. One night around 2am we recieved a call from his room from Hidie (his wife) stating that they had to call the ships emergency services and Kevin was being brought down to medical for this heart burn pain that he had been feeling as it had grown unbreable. The ships doctor stated that he had experienced a heart attack and also diagnosed him with pneumonia. We were all absolutely broken emotionally as we had no idea what to do. We were then informed that Kevin would need to be taken off the ship to be seen by another doctor once we got to our next port in Mexico. With such a serious diagnosis the ship did not feel comfortable returning to sea without Kevin having further medical evaluation. He had to be admitted overnight for observation and the ship was scheduled to leave port that evening. Hidie stayed with Kevin while us kids boarded the ship. We were sad, confused and didn't really know what to do without him. He was released later that next day and they were able to find a flight, and they met us at the next port so that we could all make it home together. The doctors at the hospital in Mexico stated that Kevin in fact did not have pneumonia or a heart attack. It had turned into not only a terrible expense but even more of a trauma as the bills continue to arrive and accumulate every single day. Since we've been home it has been an everyday struggle dealing with the repercussions of these medical concerns and with him still unable to work, we are asking for some assistance. If anyone is able to help out, it is so greatly appreciated, not only by Kevin, but by us kids. Thank you so much!
