Kevin Needs Us: Donate for His Care

Our Kevin.
Generous. Kind. Engaged. Involved. Active and Activist.
On April 9th all that changed for Kevin when he had a car accident we believe was likely due to a medical event. Kevin, our non stop working except when he was traveling, advocating, or supporting others, found himself the recipient of the care he had administered to others for so long.
The years of caring about and for others took its toll and that day in April brought to light years of declining health. During the difficult days of COVID in 2020-2022 Kevin worked as a travel nurse in very challenges times and situations.
He has cared for others, supported others, often at his own expense. Today, Kevin finds himself in need of the care and love he has so freely given. Today we, his family and dear friends, are reaching out to all those he has touched over the years to ask for help.
You would think he wouldn't need help with the way he was the first to offer to others. The rest of the story behind his always doing smiling face, is that his working has been tenuous these last few years and he has not worked since March. The way our system works, with insurance tied to our employment, just when he needs it, he has no resources, no paid time off, no short or long term disability, no health insurance, at all.
After working his whole life, in one instance, years before he planned to file for social security, he is compelled to now do so. Being younger than expected means, once he completes the process of applying and hopefully deemed eligible for disability, he also needs to access his social security retirement early, loosing out on his maximum retirement benefit. During his years of travel and supporting others, he dipped into his retirement accounts, making all of this even more challenging.
So here we are now, with him, working to figure out a safe, healthy, and healing long term living plan. We are navigating medical, emotional, and financial challenges for Kevin. We have come to a point where we can't do what is needed without help. So here we are, reaching out to you - his circle of friends and family, to help him move forward.
