My name is Kevin Crute. I currently reside in Marietta, GA. but I will be relocating to Nashville, TN to complete the pre screening process in order to be placed on the National Transplant list.
In 2012 I was diagnosed with Ischemic cardiomyopathy. For 7 years, we attempted to manage my condition through medication and lifestyle changes. Unfortunately, this strategy was not successful. My condition continued to deteriorate, and in 2019 I was advised by my Cardiologist, Dr. Brian Howard that I needed a lifesaving open-heart surgery. This open-heart procedure implanted a mechanical pump in my heart known as an Lvad (left ventricular assist device). The purpose of the surgery was to assist my heart in delivering oxygenated blood to my vital organs and produce better blood flow. As a result of the surgery, I have no heartbeat or pulse. The surgery, was never intended to "cure" my condition; it was only to serve as a bridge between living a better quality of life and death.
After two years of living with the "Vad", I am attempting to complete the pres creening process required to be placed on the National Transplant List. This process requires that I relocate to Nashville, TN. For me, this is my last hope, my last chance for extended life. I’ve been tethered to this mechanical pump and this battery pack for the last two years. I've not only had to manage its power source, but also my diet. Certain foods that I eat could cause blood clots to form in the pump, which wouldn't be a good thing. I experience the possibility daily of lost power or clot formation in the pump. My pump has come close to failing multiple times because of very low battery strength..
I am appealing to you for your help because I need your help. I WANT TO LIVE!! I want to live to see my granddaughter experience her firsts: her first soccer game, basketball game, track meet, first day of school, first middle school dance, high school graduation, and her wedding day. I want to experience it all. I’m only 55, and I have a lot of life left in my tank. There are many lives that I wan to touch. Prayerfully, this transplant (barring any setbacks or complications) would afford me another 10, 15 or maybe even 20 years. I don’t know how many years I have left on this earth, but how ever many I do have, I want to live it to it's fullest impacting people's lives for the glory of God.
I’m requesting your assistance in raising $40,000. The surgery itself will cost approximately $1.3 M. This $40,000 will be used for:
· Relocation expenses
· Housing expenses in a sterilized environment while rehabbing post surgery (6-9 months)
· Cardio rehab
· Paying for caregivers for 16 weeks
· Cost of anti-rejection drugs/medications
· Food and non-perishables while in rehab
I’m asking everyone who views this link to please share it on your social media sites, and within your network. Any contributions made, regardless of the size would be greatly appreciated.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support.
