Hello! I would like you to know that I am and have always been an excellent manager of my own resources; financial and otherwise. Never in my nearly 57 years did I ever expect to be hurting financially. Unfortunately for me a few years ago I fell victim to the most evil of schemes, and that, good people, had nothing to do with being scammed or manipulated by another person but by what I shall call complacency and arrogance of my own doing. I was 48 and in excellent health yet apparently in my mind still thought I was 22 and could still do whatever I wanted. Well that certainly turned out to NOT be the case. I thought that I could still lay off of certain activities, still eat whatever I wanted and bounce back at the drop of a hat. Not so. In the summer of 2014 I was told that I have a specific type of cancer that kills more than 90% of those diagnosed with it. I underwent surgery to remove the cancer which was a success but the result is that your life is still changed from that moment on. I can not participate in the numerous outdoor activities that once defined my life. Less than a year after the successful cancer treatment I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes; which in fact has turned out to be a worse situation than the cancer. Months of low physical activity while recuperating from the cancer dilemma is the primary cause of this life altering event. In the past 6 years I have undergone 6 foot surgeries; 1 for the right foot and 5 on the left. In September 2018 the big toe on the left foot was removed, severely disrupting weight distribution and balance. Another unfortunate “anomaly” of this is that the foot tries to compensate tin different ways. Without proper specialized footwear and a competent podiatrist (in my case though I had both) a person can develop what is known as Charcot foot. I will let you look that up and see for yourself what that horrible condition entails. I can’t wear proper footwear for my warehouse job, though I am currently looking into finding the best boot specialist out there. Now I have developed breathing/shortness of breath issues in the last year. I am not preaching but please people, never take your health/wellness for granted, as I did. It is worth SO MUCH MORE than money (now it takes money to rid oneself of the cumbersome burden of never ending medical bills, which is why I am here). How will the funds be used? These funds will be going primarily toward the paying of medical bills which insurance didn’t cover. Full disclosure: a smaller portion of it will also go to paying my phone bill so that I can communicate with doctors/staff on upcoming appointments AND to assist with my auto loan payment so that I can get to said appointments in the winter months (taking the city bus is a possibility in the the no snow months). Thank you so much for reading about my plight/situation. Again, I never thought I’d be in this kind of financial situation in my life. I truly, from the bottom of my heart appreciate whatever people give. I am humbled beyond (any further) words.
