Kevin Mackey Memorial

This has been the most difficult Thanksgiving week our family has ever faced. On Sunday, 11/21/2021, we woke up to find my nephew, Kevin, had passed away in our family room. He was only 33 when he moved in with our family here in Carlsbad, California in September, all the way across the country from Frederick, Maryland to start a new life and career. He was the middle of three brothers. He leaves behind his mother Karen (my sister) and his older brother Scott who have already been grieving over their loss of the youngest brother Ryan who was taken too soon at the age of 23 in July,2016. The loss of his younger brother was extremely difficult for him and led to his moving out here so that he could start anew. Kevin was very smart and had just begun his new career as an electrician apprentice for my husband's company. He was very funny and talented in so many ways with the biggest heart and it pains me and my family so much to know that he is no longer with us. I can’t even begin to explain how much it hurts that we will never hear his laugh again or see the twinkle in his eyes when he talked so passionately about how happy he was with his new life. This was the hardest goodbye my family had to say and now he needs to be sent back to his home in Maryland so that his mom, brother, loving girlfriend and other friends and family can say goodbye as well. He will be flown home next week for a private service prior to his cremation where he will then be laid to rest side by side with his little brother who he loved so dearly. I have set up this Go Fund Me page to help my sister and her family put their minds at ease and help offset the upcoming expenses in this very difficult time. Thank you for taking the time to read our story about such a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin.
