Hi, my name is Sarah. I’m a friend and former co-worker of Kim Glatt. On April 1st, they lost 45 years of hard work in a shop fire.
I want to share Kim’s recollection of the devastation:
April 1 it happened about 9:30 PM I was laying down putting the two little grandbabies to bed. Kevin was out working in the shop on the skid steer getting it ready for fencing season. All of a sudden I heard this loud bang so I got up and looked outside, and all I could see was black smoke. One of the boys was yelling for fire extinguishers so I had given him what I had and I called 911. I had asked if they knew where their dad was. He said he was in there, so we were all scared. The shop is run by propane. I told another son to shut it off. He told me to get the kids and get out of the yard as fast as you can. It seems like forever for the fire trucks to get out here. Everything in the shop was a complete loss. We had a tractor, skid steer, & just bought a four wheeler. All of Kevin’s tools for over 45 years of being a mechanic, including tool boxes & specialty tools. He had a tire machine & numerous welders. There was a hoist and so many things, I can’t even name them all. Nothing was covered by insurance, because we rented a place and we don’t own it yet and I didn’t have renters insurance. When I had talked to insurance places they all said they only cover the house and what’s in the house. So, the shop was a complete loss. My grandkids had all their summer toys. I just can’t believe it yet. It is so heartbreaking to see what a fighter can do in a short amount of time. All of Kevin’s tools that he had worked for his whole life.
The firefighters sprayed some kind of spray foam on the house. It almost looked like the house had started on fire, on two corners of it. The siding is melted but the stuff they sprayed on it saved the house, thank the Lord.
- So, I am asking for anyone to help in anyway. Even small amounts can make a difference for this family. I thank you in advance & ask you to keep this family in your prayers.
