Kevin Hayes Medical Expenses

Stage 4 Glioblastoma...... Most people have never heard of it, but for those who have, it's because someone near and dear to their heart has it. What is it? It is the WORST possible brain tumor you can get.
SCARY FACT: Even with treatment, the average survival time is 12-18 months - only 25% survive more than one year, and only 5% of patients survive more than five years.
That is tantamount to a death sentence.

Kevin Hayes Sr. was, unfortunately, diagnosed with this deadly tumor in October and has already undergone brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Once he’s recovered from the operation, he will continue his treatment with intense radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Another serious side effect of the tumor is that he is highly susceptible to massive seizures at any given time. As a result, he can no longer drive a car or work. Normally, all of this would get anybody down, but not Kevin. Brockton, Massachusetts, Kevin’s hometown bred two of the greatest professional boxers of all time, Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler, but they have nothing on Kevin Hayes-he is a FIGHTER, and this is one fight he’s taking head on. The support staff from family and countless friends that Kevin has is nothing short of amazing and the love and strength he’s receiving shows how beloved he is. He may not win the war, but he will most assuredly win some battles and keep on swinging. Kevin, without a doubt, gets the most strength from his son Kevin Jr.  He loves his family very much, but the greatest love he has is for his son. He is his pride and joy-which is well deserved. His son is a bright, funny, loving young man with a great future ahead of him. Just listening to Kevin talk about his son one can tell right away how proud of him he is and how much he loves him.

Anybody who knows or who has ever known Kevin Sr. know him as someone who is always smiling and laughing and anybody who has ever attended a large Hayes family gathering has been lucky to have witnessed the greatest “Simon Says” host of all time. Nobody escapes his wrath and one cannot hide from him. He’ll find you, make you sweat with his trickery and crazy hand movements; he won’t stop needling you until he gets what he wants- when you are walking away in disbelief. There is no sense in fighting it, defeat is inevitable. Everyone knows a party doesn’t officially start until Kevin shows up with his colorful jokes and incessant zinging of everyone; he spares no one, finds your soft spot and makes the room light up with laughter. A day doesn’t go by without him saying one of his famous one-liners or telling a joke or two to anyone who is within earshot. One of his favorites, ironically, is: “I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.” You would think that one would hit too close to home with him, but he still thinks it’s a funny one and isn’t afraid to tell it. That’s the epitome of Kevin Hayes-laughing in the face of heavy adversity and long odds. Its round one of a twelve round heavyweight fight. Who is ready to fight with him?  While he is battling for his life, Kevin could desperately use some monetary assistance to help pay for his medical bills and any other expenses he may incur during this extremely trying time. Any amount that can be donated would be met with the utmost appreciation and love, not only from Kevin, but from his entire family. Thank You. HAYES STRONG
