Support for Kevin Day

Donation protected
Our family member, Kevin Day has been recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer after he experienced a lot of pain and the doctors discovering a tumor in his colon.  Here's the Good news and Bad news .....
Good news: Kevin's PET scan showed he was in the earlier stages of colon cancer as only one area lit up.  After consulting with Oncologists and Radiologist, the treatment suggested is 5 to 6 weeks of radiation treatments that cost $3700 per week.  His treatment plan also includes chemotherapy, additional PET scans, and possible surgery in the future, which could bring the total cost upward to $100,000 - yikes!  Thankfully, their Healthshare company has been amazing and is working to set up an HSA account they can draw funds for each visit. They are also covering most of the fees and medication after the deductible.
Bad news:
Kevin recently changed his career path from a Farmers Insurance Agent to pursue his passion for home improvement, welding, and woodworking. He's incredibly talented, I mean just check out his work: http://www.daybuild.com.  Kevin is in the process of getting his Contractors license and is pretty stressed about finances since his main income is freelance work and his wife Amy is currently a stay at home mom caring for their 3 young boys ranging from 22 months old - 8yrs old.  This past month Kevin has not been able to work due to Dr. visits and pain. His radiation treatment and chemo medication may have side effects that will prevent him from working, or work significantly less.  Kevin's treatment will be 5-6 weeks of Chemo and Radiation.  In efforts to try and not have to do surgery, the Radiologist wants to bump up the radiation therapy to a higher level which could cause a lot more pain through the process.  Then a 5-6 week break, re-assess then either 5-6 more weeks of Chemo or surgery.  If they end up going surgery route, it will be a minimum of 2 months of down time without being able to lift anything, then after that, it could be another 5-6 weeks of Chemo.  We are all praying for a no-go on surgery because that would entail a life long colostomy bag, which will cause additional problems down the road and other potential side effects that are not the best.  Amy is looking at getting back into teaching but the new school year wouldn't start until August so that is another hurdle in terms of getting finances right away.  Along with that, Kevin & Amy are not able to re-finance the home (which has equity in it) because Kevin can't prove income on his new career path (nor do they  have it).  Needless to say, Kevin & Amy don't have that kind of cash on hand to pay for their mortgage, bills, and living costs for a family of 5.

Here's how you can help:
We are seeking help from our family and friends to contribute a donation to his treatment and living costs to ease their fears, stress and financial strain during this difficult time. It's Kevin's 38th birthday today - March 16th and what an amazing birthday present it would be to feel the support & love from everyone!  Since Kevin's family also have artistic talents - we are pulling together to create gifts for donors who give over $50!!!

Kevin and Amy are devoted Catholics, so upon request can have a Mass said for the donor in lieu of donor gifts if they are Catholic.

Prayers:
We would also appreciate your prayers for direction & guidance for emotional, physical, & financial support. If you can also pray that Kevin's body responds well to the radiation treatments & chemo so he does not have to go through surgery and for a speedy recovery after treatments. We're all so grateful we have an amazing group of prayer warriors.  All things are possible with God.
