Kevin Ceglia's Final Journey Home - An Update
Donation protected
Our beloved brother, son, uncle, and friend, Kevin Ceglia passed away on June 19 at Maui Memorial Medical Center, after suffering a massive stroke at his home in Lahaina. This came as a complete shock and our family is still spinning from it.
Kevin was an amazing human. He was funny, intelligent, and kind. He was always positive, with a great attitude. He was all love and light, with a beautiful, creative soul. He loved golf, the ocean, picking on his guitar, and people. He was fiercely loyal, and would do anything for his family and friends. He lived an authentic life, traveled the world, and never regretted a single thing. We'll miss his voice on the phone, his surprise trips to California, and his beautiful spirit, among so many other wonderful things about him. We are simply devastated.
Because Kevin was on life support after his stroke, our brother, Randy, needed to urgently fly to Maui to meet with the ICU doctors who were caring for Kevin. Coordinating flights and a place for Randy to stay was complicated and expensive in the time of COVID. Hawaii is under a mandatory 14-day quarantine for travelers arriving from the mainland, so there were government hoops to jump through to obtain a waiver of the quarantine restrictions. Fortunately, Randy was able to obtain the waiver and he arrived on Maui Thursday, in time to say goodbye to Kevin, and is now in the process of collecting his personal items, and taking care of the details necessary to bring his ashes home.
The family is hoping to raise funds to help cover the costs of travel, lodging, and final arrangements. Any funds collected in excess of those expenses will be applied to the cost of celebrations of Kevin's life, which will take place in both Los Gatos and Maui. We hope to celebrate with you all this summer, assuming COVID restrictions are lifted and it's safe to gather.
Thank you to everyone for your kind words, in your emails and phone calls and messages. We knew Kevin was loved, but the outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming and we appreciate every single one of you, just as Kevin did.
Aloha,
The Ceglia/Mickelson Family
