"It has been said that we are all simply walking those that we love home..." Kevin Ruch, the "Baby Elephant"
On May 3, 2025, Kevin began his own walk home surrounded by his loved ones. His journey with cancer was long but he remained optimistic and headstrong until his body was unable to continue the fight.
Anyone who ever met Kevin had their heart and soul touched for life. He was truly the kind of person who made you feel loved in a way not many can. He was the person who would travel hours to help someone he met once for ten seconds. The amount of people whose lives he impacted is endless. His actions and love will live on through his beautiful wife, Jo, his four children, their spouses, and his grandchildren.
Kevin was truly astonishing, having kicked cancer's butt time and time again, defying unimagined odds. Even as he fought his own battle, Kevin would still drop what he was doing to help anyone and everyone.
Throughout his life, he always said his only true goal was to make sure his wife and dogs would always be taken care of. Even at his worst, he continued to work full-time and gave 150% to make his dream come true. Unfortunately, the financial burden of cancer is almost as bad as the mental and physical toll it takes. Despite how hard he worked, after six years of battling cancer, his treatments have left a crippling medical burden.
Kevin was not someone to ever ask for help. He would actually give you his time, money or heart despite also struggling. Please contribute if/what you can to help make his ultimate goal a reality and to honor him in a way he would have done for anyone he ever passed on the street.
