Keven Fleming's fight
Donation protected
Keven went from a healthy happy guy talking about what we were going to do for our 25th anniversary to fighting for his life from complications with H1N1 also known as swine flu. On Feb 16th Keven got a bad chest cold and 14 days later is in the Mayo Clinic's ICU. He is septic with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). ARDS is a very rare condition that has a 50% mortality rate and we are literally watching him minute to minute. Kev is in a medical coma hooked up to; multiple IVs, a ventilator, and an ECMO machine which acts as artificial lungs providing him with enough oxygen to heal. I was told if I left him on the ventilator alone he would die. He has a long road ahead, first getting the ECMO off, then the ventilator. This may take weeks or months, no one knows for sure. He will have to relearn how to walk and how to use his throat muscles due to being on a ventilator for so long. He has overcome 2 major hurdles. The ECMO surgery, and the transport to the Mayo Clinic. Anyone who knows Kev is aware of his huge heart, great sense of humor, compassion and the best husband and father anyone could ask for! Nothing means as much to him as his family and friends. Whether you can give money, prayers, or positive thoughts it is extremely appreciated. I want to thank everyone for your kindness during this hard time in our lives.
