Keswick MRT Fundraiser
I run a Facebook group ‘ Lake District Hiking And Wild Camping’ last year we did a fund raiser for the Duddon and Furness MRT, who were fundraising to help build themselves a new base and managed to raise over £5k for them.
We’ve decided to make this an annual event, where each year we will raise money for one of the various Lake District mountain rescue teams, and this year we’ve chose KESWICK MRT
Venturing onto the fells comes with risks, knowing that you have teams such as Keswick Mrt that will come out rain or shine, night or day and help you in your hour of need gives us all piece of mind.
More information about Keswick Mountain Rescue Team: Keswick Mountain Rescue Team is comprised of nearly 50 members who are available 24/7 to carry out rescues on the surrounding fells here in the Lake District. Rescues include trauma injuries, such as broken ankles; medical issues e.g. cardiac arrests; and people lost or benighted. We attend around 100 rescues each year, including one or two fatalities. None of the team is paid, and most juggle team membership with paid work, family commitments and their own enjoyment of the hills.
