Evacuate my family

My name is Anoushka, and I am setting up this page on behalf of my friend, Hana, to help her family trapped in Gaza. Below is a message from Hana.

Hello,

I am Hana from Gaza, Palestine. I now live in Istanbul, Turkey. I left Gaza two years ago after the last war. Leaving Gaza was very painful, but living in it is so much worse.

Today, my remaining family in Gaza is living in the worst conditions after we lost 25 members of my family and lost our home.

Two weeks ago, I was on a call with my young niece, who is no more than five years old, and she asked me at the time: “Is there a war in Turkey, aunt?”

So, I told her “No, there is safety here.” Then she said to me, “What does safety mean, meaning there is no war?”

Her question prompted me to do everything I could to get her out of Gaza. And now I am asking for your support and donation to evacuate my family of 10 members from Gaza, so that little Jana can live in a safe house.

I am asking for your help to raise money to enable my brothers, their wives, and their children to get out of Gaza before it is too late. They will require the following funds:

• Expenses of leaving Gaza. In such cases, the people in Gaza have been asked to pay $8500 per person regardless the age or that one of my sister-in-law’s is pregnant , to be allowed out of Gaza at the Rafah crossing**.

• The stay in Cairo for 3-4 weeks waiting for paperwork.

• Flight tickets for 10 people from Cairo to Turkey.

• Their settlement expenses (for the first 2 months until they find jobs), such as rent, food, and healthcare.

The situation, the danger, and the hardship are beyond any anticipation. Time is extremely sensitive, which means that time costs blood and lives.

Thank you for your openness to hearing about the situation of my family and me. Palestinian voices are often silenced, making it challenging to raise awareness about our situation and seek support. A safe, supportive, judgment-free community is vital for us.

At this moment, and on behalf of my family, I am sincerely and deeply asking all kind people to help them get out of the most dangerous place in the world and start a new life. **To enter Egypt from Gaza at the Rafah crossing, Cairo based brokers are charging Palestinians thousands of dollars to enable their crossing, effectively putting a price on their lives. This evacuation fee has surged in the last few months due to the increased demand. This is the only possible route out of Gaza for Palestinian nationals. Whilst the international community does nothing to correct this and provides no alternative way to escape the dangers in Gaza, this fee must be paid.
