Keryl's Keel Appeal! Help this boat to a hundred year future

Donation protected
Keryl is a 40 foot Class A Ocean Racing Yacht. Built for a lady in Harry King's Boatyard in 1936.
She's beautiful but now decayed after 90 years in salt water and the slow destruction of her timbers caused by the inclusion of Iron in her construction.
In rebuilding her entire hull it seems crazy to fasten her old iron ballast keel back on because it will repeat the destructive process - but changing to more stable lead gives her the chance of a hundred year life.
This appeal is to help with that single element of the re-build.

I'm Simon Woodhouse, Keryl's owner for the past twenty years - though I should say her 'curator' because I don't think anyone really owns such rare relics from history.
It is a labour of love to rebuild this old girl (the costs alone make no logical sense!) but in doing so at the age of 57 I have to face that I will not be gaining the long term benefit. This is to pass something on to the next generation when Keryl really will be one of the few old time classic yachts still sailing.

A huge 'Thank You!' to you for even getting this far in exploring this appeal! Let's see if we can do this!!
