On 2 Feb 20, a large 2-alarm fire engulfed my parents, Kerry and Debbie Wagoner's, apartment complex building destroying their home and 19 others. Thankfully, everyone in the building was able to get out in time but sadly some pets were not able to be saved due to the heavy flames. The Red Cross has stepped in to assist the 20 displaced families, but isn't able to financially offset the rebuilding of everyone's home and personal belongings. They have not been allowed back in yet, but have been told their home is uninhabitable and are having to start all over because most/all their furniture and belongings are a total loss due to fire, smoke, and water damage. They lost everything and the only thing they have is the clothes on their back and what, if anything, they can salvage. They now have the huge financial burden of paying for temporary living expenses, repurchasing all new clothing, medicines, food, furniture.... everything. My mother and father both served in the U.S. Coast Guard and my father retired after 30+ years of military service.
