It has been almost 2 weeks since the devastating fire in my Bronxville apartment building and I want to thank all of you for your love and support during this emotional and difficult time.
As of now, I have only been allowed into my apartment once and very briefly to just get some essentials. The water damage to my once beautiful home was extensive and heartbreaking to witness. I do believe that many of my belongings and furniture are salvageable but it will still be a few days if not weeks before I will be able to enter again, and my fear is that the water damage will be even more ruinous by then. I am lucky that I have some things to take away, as the residents of the 6th floor and many on the fifth lost everything.
Besides my wonderful friends, the Bronxville/Yonkers and wider lower Westchester community have been incredibly supportive and helpful. Ladle of Love, Park Sterling Realty, American Red Cross-Metro NY North Chapter, my colleagues at MLB Network and thoughout the industry, to name just a few. Friends and neighbors have collected clothes. Many have offered a place to stay and that has been a blessing.
Many of you have offered to help in any way that you can. Right now, I am not sure what I will need until I can get back in and see what can be salvaged.
Once I am allowed in again, I will need as many people as possible to help me go through my belongings and pack them up as well as deal with the emotional toll of seeing my beautiful home in this state and discarding some cherished things. I am hoping that a few of you who are able can come and help me to do that.
Thank you again for the love and support. In the moments when I feel overwhelmed, it has helped me through.
While Kerry was reluctant to ask for any financial support during this difficult time, so many have asked and reached out. Hopefully, with this gofundme, some of the burden of moving and replacing lost items will be taken care of.
