Kerry & Dublin walk the Kerry Camino for BUMBLEANCE.

Donation protected
On the 1st June 2025, we will walk part of the Kerry Camino to raise awareness and funds for Bumblance. BUMBLEance is the Children’s Ambulance Service of Ireland and they travel half a million kilometres each year across 15 vehicles! They provide safe and comfortable transportation for Ireland’s youngest patients as they travel between their homes and hospitals, hospices, treatment centres and respite centres nationwide.
The BUMBLEance service is the first of its kind in the world. It has all the amenities of a regular ambulance, but includes the all-important extras to make a sick child’s journey as safe, comfortable and entertaining as possible. Their aim is to distract, comfort and entertain Ireland’s youngest patients as they travel to and from hospitals and paediatric treatment centres nationwide.
THE EVENT:
We will meet near the Tralee Equestrian Centre in Tonavane, Blennerville, Tralee V92 T635 at 9am and we will trek the trail as far as Fitzgeralds Railway Bar, Camp. All walkers are welcome to join, we’d love to see your support on the day!
The day doesn’t end there… following the walk, we will meet at approx. 4pm at The Klub at Kerins O'Rahilly's, Strand Road where we will host a fundraising event for anyone interested in attending. We hope to include the children (until 7PM ish) with some music and face painting on the day too. We will have sport prizes/ Lucky Dip and lots of fun through the night.
Just to give some background regarding who we are; we were originally two separate groups of people who wanted to raise money for good causes. One walking group from Dublin (Lost Boys Walking Club), headed by Micheal Healy, Patrick Rice and Teresa Costello with an aim to raise money for Suzanne House; a Respite Service in Tallaght for children with life altering/limiting conditions. And the McEvoy family from Tralee who wished to raise funds for the Palliative care unit in Tralee who were a godsend to us on more occasions than we wish to remember.

In 2014, The Tralee group helped to raise €15,000 for Palliative care in memory of the amazing Brendan McEvoy, our Brother/Uncle/ father/ Friend, by climbing mount Brandon! It was tough but worth it… We swore ‘Never Again’.
Skip forward to 2023 and the Kerry and Dublin groups did what Kerry and Dublin do best; we had a heated discussion about who were better; Kerry vs Dublin! Dublin reckoned they were better at football, Kerry laughed in their faces. The Dublin group imagined they were fitter because they climb the ‘hell fire’ walking trail, the Kerry group rebounded with ‘I bet you can’t climb Mount Brandon like us!’… and so the terms were set!! We organised a group walk up mount Brandon in April 2023 and in doing so, we raised €10,000 for the Palliative Care Unit of University Hospital Kerry. The Hell fire Walking group joined us and helped to make the day more successful than we could had imagined.
One good turn deserves another and so in June 2024, the McEvoy family joined the Hell Fire Walking group for a hike and Family fun day at the Hell Fire Club in Tallaght and together we raised over €17,000 for Suzanne House in Tallaght!
So now we want to keep this new found tradition rolling….
This year we hope to keep raising funds for another great causes and we have chosen ‘Bumblance’!
We really hope you can make the events of the day and we would greatly appreciate it if you could donate to this amazing event and share this post on social media. Thanks in advance for your support.
