Kerry Blech Caregiver Fund

Kerry Blech has been a fixture in the old-time music scene for decades. His scholarship has been both deep and wide, and he has generously shared from his collections of rare recordings and photographs. He has encouraged countless new players and helped even the experienced to learn from the older recordings, including his own extensive field work. He's been a champion of the obscure—bringing to light many brilliant unknown players and archaic, beautiful tunes.

As most of Kerry's friends know, his health has been declining since he was diagnosed with Parkinson's. For the last three years Kerry has been unable to live on his own and requires caregivers seven days a week. Kerry has had a lot of ups and downs but is currently doing fairly well. He has caregivers through Elder Options who take care of him every morning for free. In addition, he has an amazing team of private caregivers who take care of the rest of his needs each day and take him shopping and to doctor appointments. Kerry's only source of money at this point is his monthly social security check and since Kerry doesn't have much left of his own financial resources he can no longer afford to pay for the private caregivers who come everyday.

Please, let's support Kerry as he has supported the old-time community!

There's also a brand new old-time fiddle tunes compilation that's just been released with the legendary playing of Kerry Blech on fiddle, Allen Hart on banjo, and Sheila Blech Long on guitar. Proceeds from this album go directly to Kerry.
