Since 1984 Kerri has dedicated her life to helping others as a Registered Nurse. Today, she needs help to kick cancer in the pancreASS!
In early October 2019, while on vacation with friends in Mexico, Kerri began experiencing stomach pain and fatigue. Not wanting to ruin the party, she assumed it was just the flu that had been making its way through the family and decided to ride it out. After reaching back home to Redding, CA and continuing to feel extremely weak, Kerri decided to visit the ER. Once there, she learned that her hemoglobin was below 6 g/dl (less than half of what is normal). The suspected culprit - lesions on her pancreas.
Fast forward through an emergency blood transfusion, air transport to California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA, an endoscopy and PET scan - Kerri was diagnosed with unresectable Pancreatic Cancer.
As a veteran in the medical industry and a mother of 4 sons, Kerri knows what it will take to overcome this diagnosis and is ready to fight. On October 23rd, Kerri started her first round of chemotherapy with the goal of shrinking the tumor and reevaluating surgery. Kerri is also working with PanCAN to identify clinical trials at various institutions.
As part of this process, medical bills have become a growing concern. For example, the bill for the air transport alone was $67,000.
