Kerra Martin

If you know Kerra, than you already know her to be kind, generous, and full of light. You already know her kindness knows no bounds; she will drop everything to help someone else. You already know that she is an amazing wife and incredible mom to three beautiful kids, Bella (7), DJ (5), and Sofia (1). But, what some of y’all don’t know is a private battle her and her family have been faced with. After having mild seizures that progressively got worse, Kerra went in for an MRI, and the results flipped their world upside down. The doctors found a brain tumor. Thankfully, it is benign, but it is very big and pressing against her brain stem and must be removed immediately. Surgery is set for next week (Nov. 4th, 2020), and she will most likely need rehab following. With no insurnace, they are looking at 200k for the surgery alone. Additionally, David’s job, and their sole income, is based out of town. Although his company is generously supporting some, for the foreseen future, he is unable to work because he must be here with the kids and to care of Kerra after the surgery. Understand, this surgery is major. They will have to cut a huge portion of skull to reach the tumor, as well as detach facial muscles. The tumor is wrapped around major nerves, including her optic nerve, that will cause rehabilitation of the eye muscle after surgery. There is also a possibility for a second surgery if the doctor can not reach the portion of the tumor that is closest to her spinal cord. To make matter even worse, durning her most recent seizure, Kerra fell and broke her elbow. 

This is a huge mountain they are facing, but they won’t have to do it alone because we all will help and support them along the way.
