*Update*
A few months ago, my family and I started this GoFundMe so that we can get my aunt Kerone a much-needed surgery to remove a tumor that is growing in the front of her brain. Thank you to everyone that has already donated and sent kind words of encouragement and well wishes. She was recently referred to a new doctor that has graciously taken on her case for a more reduced cost than previously mentioned and is happy with this new development. Unfortunately, we are still some ways away from meeting our goal, even with contributions from family members. We are almost halfway there and hope to meet our goal by the end of May so that her surgery can be scheduled within the following month.
Kerone Duhaney is a long-time resident of Hanover, Jamaica and has dedicated the better part of her life to taking care of her children/family members and working at Family Care Pharmacy, located in Lucea, Hanover. In February 2022, her youngest son noticed that she began shaking uncontrollably and proceeded to fall off her bed. That incident was the first seizure of many that Kerone would start to experience over the next ten months.
After being hospitalized for ten days and running various tests, doctors confirmed that a tumor on the front left side of her brain that is compromising her vision, sense of smell, and overall balance has been causing these sudden health scares. When her seizures occur, she often loses all sense of awareness and cannot regain strength for hours. We have spoken with doctors in Kingston, Jamaica, who confirmed that they could perform the surgery, but due to the cost, we could not move forward with setting an appointment date. We continue to do our best to monitor her health and keep Kerone as happy and upbeat as she looks in this photo, but know that the longer we wait to schedule the surgery, the more danger she is in when she has another seizure. It is December, and we are still far from reaching our surgery goals.
This has not been easy on her family, especially her sons, and we are asking that you please donate, share, and spread the word if you can. With your help, we'll raise enough money to schedule her surgery next year and get her back on her feet in her everyday life. She is eager to return to work and do the things she loves, but without this surgery, she will continue to live each day wondering when and where another seizure will occur.
We thank you for taking the time to read our story and hope that we can get Kerone this surgery with all that is donated.
With Gratitude,
The Duhaney Family
