Keri’s Cancer Medical Costs

Donation protected

For those who don’t know my name is Tyler Crane and my mother is Keri Dean. My mother has been battling squamous cell carcinoma cancer. Her journey began in March of 2023 when she was first diagnosed and under went a
surgery to remove the cancer of the tongue from an ENT at an outpatient treatment center. Unfortunately, the doctor performed the surgery on the incorrect side of where the cancer was. That led her to Stanford’s Medical Center where they ran tests to ensure the prior surgery was in fact incorrect and they confirmed the cancer still needed to be treated. Stanford performed a second surgery for the correct portion of her tongue which was squamous cell carcinoma of the right anterolateral tongue which my mother underwent a partial glossectomy. After, these surgeries she was unable to talk and perform everyday functions such as eating and swallowing which required her to be on disability. This caused a great amount stress about making ends meet with the insane hospital bills she has.

Unfortunately, during the middle of all the absurdity my mother’s husband has decided to separate from her. Leaving her with many bills to pay such as her home, car, hospital expenses, and medications. Due to the overwhelming stress of the separation and her finances she ended her disability sooner than expected to try to make ends meet. In October of 2023 she was experiencing some pain on the neck where her lymph nodes are located and eventually a big lump appeared on the neck where the pain was located. This is when she went back to Stanford for a routine check up to find the cancer from her tongue had spread further to the opposite side infecting her lymph nodes and causing a cancerous tumor to grow on one of her lymph nodes. When her PET scan was received it was discovered that there was a suspicion of cancer that had spread to the lymph nodes on the opposite side of her neck apart from the confirmed tumor. She was scheduled for a Full Bilateral Neck Dissection of her lymph nodes in November of 2023. With the cancer spreading so rapidly and unaware of how aggressive it is we have been scheduled to complete radiation for 6-8 weeks pending on the results from biopsies to see if my mother will need Chemotherapy.

Due to the ongoing stress my mom is going through such as the divorce, her bills, ex-husbands bills she moved in with my husband and I so we can help her through the care she will be needing. I’m hoping to raise money to take some stress off of her so she doesn’t have to worry about finances and focus on her health to get better soon! This has already been an emotional ride for my mother, brother, and I. If you’re able to make a donation or a small contribution for my mom our appreciation and gratitude towards your donation means so much. I will continue to make updates to this page for our friends and family on her status but of course anyone please feel free to reach out to me for updates.

Thank you,

Keri, Tyler, and Cameron
