Dear Friends and Supporters,

My name is Kerét Watts. I am a third-year student at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago. As a child, caring for animals came naturally to me. I would take in any stray dogs or cats that I could find and help them. This desire to help led me to consider veterinary medicine as a career choice. As a young adult, I was encouraged to do volunteer work and I started at Animal Care Veterinary Clinic.

With a strong passion for animal care, I've dedicated my academic journey to becoming a veterinarian. My aspirations lie in equine medicine, fueled by experiences at Caymanas Race Track and my active involvement with the SVM Equine club.

I take my studies quite seriously, having been on the Dean’s Honour roll for the academic Year 2021-2022, and I intend to maintain this standard of success. However, the financial burden of tuition fees poses a significant obstacle. As a Jamaican national, the discontinuation of government subsidies for DVM students has amplified this challenge.

As my mother's support diminishes with her approaching retirement, I find myself in urgent need of assistance to continue my education. I humbly request funding support to alleviate the financial strain.

Your contribution will enable me to pursue my dreams of becoming an equine veterinarian.

With your support, I aim to not only realize my dream but also to give back to my community. I plan to contribute to Jamaica's equine sector, pursue postgraduate studies in Equine Internal Medicine or Equine Sports Medicine, and advocate for the reinstatement of subsidies for aspiring veterinary students.

Your generosity would not only transform my life but also contribute to the development of veterinary care in Jamaica.

P.S I wrote to several government agencies, and boards in Jamaica seeking assistance but to no avail. April 30 is the deadline for meeting my financial obligations to the The University of the West Indies, St Augustine.
