Kenzie's Journey

Donation protected
Hi guys! My name is Annie Norrell and many of you may know my sister, Kenzie, or my mom, Sandy, and may know a little bit about what our family has been going through these past couple of years. In February of 2014, Kenzie was alerted by her eye doctor that her blood pressure was extremely high and she needed to get to an emergency room immediately. She was given medicine and was sent home, not sure what caused the spike in her blood pressure. A few months later, the same thing occurred again only this time she was admitted into the hospital for approximately 10 days to undergo many tests and blood work. The doctors weren't sure exactly what it was but took a guess that it could be Lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that later caused Kenzie's kidneys to fail and her in desperate need of a transplant. The doctors didn't want her to get on dialysis because of her age so they gave her a lot of meds and hoped it would work until they found a match for the kidney transplant. Unfortunately it did not and throughout the year Kenzie was in the hospital approximately 3 more times for many of the same reasons. In May of 2015, Kenzie was admitted to the hospital again in critical condition. At that point the doctors decided it was time to get her on dialysis, so for the next 6 weeks she traveled to Ft. Worth to do her treatments. Around that time, God blessed us with a match and it just so happen to be my mom, Sandy. On July 6, 2015, mom and Kenzie were taken into surgery to begin the transplant process. It has been a long recovery, but they have both come a long way since that day. Unfortunately, Kenzie's journey was not over. Fast forward to July of 2016 Kenzie was back in the hospital due to high creatinine levels and extreme back pain. Throughout the semester she was dealing with the same issues but pushed past them to get to graduation and in December 2016, she graduated with her Bachelors from OSU. Two weeks later, she was back in the hospital for the same reasons as the visit in July. On Friday, December 23, 2016, Kenzie was diagnosed with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder, a form of Lyphoma. Starting as soon as possible, Kenzie will also begin aggressive treatments of chemotherapy that will last for the next 4-5 months. There have been a lot of tests, x-rays, biopsies, scans, and a specific scare that brought on more tess before they begin the chemo. As you can imagine, two weeks of living in a hospital adds up pretty quickly as well as all the surgeries, hospital and ER visits, and ambulance rides.

I'm not sure if many of you know, but my dad's company decided to go another direction around May of 2015 and let him go. He's been working extremely hard to find a job that supports our large family but it has been a slow process. On November 30, 2016, we lost our heath insurance and have not had the funds to find new insurance. Now, I know that God has us in his hands and will guide us on the right path, but I also know that he encourages us to ask for help when we need it. So that is why I have decided to ask for yalls generous donations to help my parents pay Kenzie's medical bills as well as to help us get insurance again. Any dollar would be greatly appreciated from all of us.

Thank y'all in advance for helping us out in our time of need and also for everyone who has helped us throughout this journey. We love y'all more than you know and your support and prayers do not go unnoticed. We are so grateful to have every one of you in our lives.

Thanks again.
Love,
The Norrells
