Kenzie stem cells and medical home adjustments

My name is Morgann and I am creating the GoFundMe for my little sister Mackenzie. On May 5th she hit some gravel on a backroad and flipped her truck several times. Thankfully someone called right after the accident occurred and she got help as soon as possible. She was conscious the whole time she was waiting on first responders and she heard people pass without stopping, not knowing help was on the way. They had to use the jaws of life to get her out of the back window of the truck and then she was rushed right to the OR. At first, we were told she possibly had two broken arms and a broken leg; we were later told she fractured her C6 and shattered her kneecap. Our mom got to see her before her first surgery, the surgery to fix her C6, and in true Kenzie fashion, she told the surgeon that he better do right by her. The surgeon sat us all down after and gave us a hopeful prognosis and then the next day she went into another surgery for her kneecap. Again that surgery went well and the doctor was hopeful. Due to the location of her C6 fracture and needed surgery they put her on a ventilator and in a C-collar. I'll never forget how she looked laying in the hospital bed, covered in tubes, bruises, and scrapes, and the only sounds from her coming from the connected machines. Because of the ventilator, she could not talk and she communicated through notebooks. We all got really good at reading her current handwriting and of course some simple charades. Once they weaned her off the stronger drugs for the pain we realized she still couldn't feel her legs, and lacked good motor function in her arms and hands. She went from the ICU to the surgical step-down unit before finally being moved to the Shepherd Center. The Shepherd Center was the best place for her to be, her fine motor skills need a lot of work and she has a long road ahead getting back to where she was before. Since being there she moved down to a squeak tube (a smaller trach tube) which she could finally talk with, done PT and OT to help get back her motor skills in her hands and arms, and is finally trach tube free. She's also been working on a hand-powered bicycle to keep her legs moving. They have a therapy dog named Lanza whom she adores doing her PT sessions with, and all her nurses are superstars. Kenzie has faced everything head-on and continues to amaze us all. We are raising this money to get her stem cell therapy and make renovations to her apartment and make it more accessible for her once she is home; a larger shower, wider hallways, and making the kitchen more user-friendly for her. Kenzie is always on the move, she had three jobs and a horse named Frosty, and has so many friends who love and support her and we just want to do everything in our power to give her the best chance at being 100% again.
